Pender Island is a wonderful spot for a getaway wedding from Vancouver. Only a short ferry ride away and you are met with a quiet landscape and a rugged shoreline. Ron + Lauren choose to have their wedding at the marina and resort called Poets Cove. Lauren grew up making the trip over to Pender Island many times to visit a family cabin on the island. It always held a special place in her heart and if you have had the chance to visit, I am sure you know the feeling!
Personally, I love weddings like this! Bringing people together for not just the day but the entire weekend is so special! You truly get to enjoy time with all of your loved ones! And also a special thank you Ron + Lauren for bringing us to celebrate your love and take in the island life for the weekend! We arrived on Friday evening and headed over to Poets Cove. We spent the evening scouting out the area and watching the sunset over the island and eagerly anticipated the wedding day!
Saturday morning we started the day off in Poets Cove’s cabins where everyone was bustling about getting ready for the day! So many sweet moments throughout getting ready like the sentimental letters they shared with each other and the little moments with their daughter. Then right as they were putting on Lauren’s veil she took a moment to breastfeed before the aisle. Mom duty doesn’t take a pause!
They had a dear friend, actually the friend that introduced them, officiate the wedding! Making the ceremony extra sentimental and so sweet! And the moments after the ceremony when they took it in with their crew was so emotional. Having such supportive friends is beautiful to see!
After the ceremony we ventured to Brooks Point to pop champagne and enjoy the ocean views! Lauren went barefoot and I love it! Finishing portraits on a yacht back at Poets Cove was pretty cool too! After running down the dock they joined their guests to continue celebrating with everyone!
The day continues with some golden light streaming into the reception area for speeches. There are laughs and tears all around!
We dipped outside for the spectacular sunset before dancing the night away! What an extremely special day on Pender Island and I cannot wait to go back!
